Years ago, Panagra airlines offered a package called ';Golden circle of Latin America'; (Circulo de oro de Panagra) They offered what experts called the best of South America. It all started in Peru (Lima and Cuzco), then they went to Chile (Santiago, Valpararaiso, Puerto Montt) then crossed the lakes into Bariloche, then fly to Buenos Aires, go to Montevideo (and Punta del Este), go to Iguazu falls, and stop in Rio de Janeiro.

Although Panagra and Panam do not exist anymore, the golden circle of South America is still well known in travel agencies.

I have been to Bolivia (Santa Cruz and La Paz) but I would rather stick to Peru, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay and Brasil.Hi thinking of travelling around south america any advice places to go things to do.ill have two months there.
Buy an electronic translator--wait a minute--you'll need one in Spanish and one in Portuguese(for Brazil)--or you will be stuffed. Buy a travel guide, too. Sao Paolo is huge--mega city--interesting but difficult even to get into. Stay on the outside of the city. Avoid Colombia.
ARGENTINA PLEZ GO THERE
How many countries were you planning on visiting?

If you're doing 2 months I'd say try to hit up Colombia, Brazil, Argentina and Chile. 2 weeks in each country should be good enough. Places to visit in Colombia: Bogota, Cartagena, Medellin and San Andres y Providencia. Brazil: Sao Paulo, Rio, Manaus, maybe take a trip to the amazon. Argentina: Buenos Aires and Bariloche. Chile: Santiago, Vi帽a del Mar and Valparaiso
Try Quito Ecuador, its high in the mountains, so nice and cool.

Nice people too, some stories going around about danger but I never had any hassle there. And Yes.. not speaking Spanish is a hassle throughout S. America- never ceases to amaze me how little English is spoken on that continent!

Colombia is beautiful but can be dangerous in certain parts. If youre anywhere near Central America, Costa Rica is worth a look.
Colombia! You should definatly make that one of the stops on your trip. Bogata the capital Barranquilla the port city are both awesome. Medellin check out the coffee park the gold museum ....for more tip check www.colombianblog.com
