Advice on moving to America?

I'm seriously considering moving to America.

Life here in Scotland is good but not great. I want to fulfill my dreams. I want to be a script writer and performer. I don't think it's a crazy ambition. I sit at my desk feeling physically sick at the fact that I am letting life pass me by.

I need to know where to start really.Advice on moving to America?
DO you have money? If so, live in North Carolina. Or Cali. Best places to live now, go to college. And enjoy life!Advice on moving to America?
What makes you think that you can fulfill your dreams, here? Everything is expensive, there are no jobs (except at McDonald's and Wal-Mart), and the government is becoming more opressive every day.

Have you considered Australia, Canada, or up-and-coming Brazil?

However, if you do decide to go to the US, be sure you bring lots of money, file all the proper paperwork, and meet all the requirements 'to the letter'!

Good luck to you!
ok..you can come..don't bring any dudes though..good luck to ya.
Advice on moving out of America. Life here is getting worse everyday. You are no longer allowed to fulfill your dreams unless allowed by the government. We soon wont even have desks left to sit behind because our President is driving all work to other countries because of his policies.
yess! come to america!
Well, let's see, if you want a place like Scotland, part of the UK, led by an incompetent leader and deeply in debt, you can only go to California.

If you want someplace different, you might want to stay out of ';blue-state'; America.
Go for it girl!

Your dreams await!

America is great, but make sure you're totally ready!
';Wannabe'; is not good enough. If you want to be an actor, then London is the place to be. If your performances are so good that you attract a contract with a US theater company, then they will apply for your visa. If you want to be a screenwriter, write your scripts, register them with WGA-West, and properly market them. If they buy your script, and if they need you on set (they almost never want the writer on set!), they will apply for a proper visa for you.

Do what you want to fulfill your dreams. But don't expect you qualify for any sort of visa just because you claim to want to do something. The doing of it comes first. At this point your post indicates you are dreaming and have not so much as written a page of a proper script in proper format, or even read a book on screenwriting and marketing your work. Sitting at your desk daydreaming will get you diddly. Go to the public library and start studying screenwriting. Go to acting classes. Get your butt in gear my dear. Then we have something to talk about.
You have to get at least a little fit famous there as a performer before a studio will sponsor you for a visa.

And you cannot just hang around LA trying to get acting work. First because there are about 1,000,000 others trying to land the same 200 or so positions a year. And you will not be permitted to work.

As for script writing, you can do that in Scotland.

And if you are poor in the US, life is a lot more miserable than being poor there. The USA is a low tax/low services country.
If you need a place to stay let me know. Find a job or marry a guy from here. There will be a lot of paperwork but America is the best country in the world.
move 2 america
Sorry, no jobs here, please stay home.
How do you plan to move to America legally. There are not many options that you can get a green card. I
Then go for it, just make sure you do it legally and have enough money to get situated here in the United States before you are able to start work. California is a great place for writers and performers.
You are going to need alot ALOT of money... and they best place for what you want to do it definitely somewhere is California. but its expensive here so make sure you are prepared! good luck and I hope you are able to fulfill your dreams!! :)
all the places that would be good for you to move to are pretty costly. however, giving that i have no clue what your financial situation is, California is good, New york (in or near Ney York City) or even Chicago Illinois.

Good luck!

i hope you follow your dreams once you get to the states.
