Any advice about TEACH FOR AMERICA program? I'm thinking of joining.?

I know of one person who received her job as part of TFA. She was excellent and praised teh program. Research more though before you apply or after you apply and before you accept.Any advice about TEACH FOR AMERICA program? I'm thinking of joining.?

Well...you definitely should look at the TFA website to make sure that this is something that you really want to do. It helps if you have definite plans to remain a teacher even after the program because that is what they really want from their applicants. They primarily want Math or Science teachers too. Another thing to consider is that if you want to be a teacher then maybe there is another way for you to do this without going through TFA. An interesting article was posted on MSN.com about TFA and it showed that students who are taught by uncertified TFA teachers do not excel as much as students who are taught by certified non-TFA teachers. Based on my own application experience, this is completely opposite of what the recruiters tell you. I have heard good and bad stories about life as a TFA teacher based on where you are placed. In short, there are a lot of things that you should think about before you begin the extensive application process. I hope this helps!
