You really should have given more info. concerning your age and reasons for wanting to come. I know that on our trips to Disney World in Florida, a lot of young people from other countries have come to work there. Also, during the summer months, young people from other countries come to work at our beach resorts...probably May through Sept. in the shore resorts on our east coast from southern New Jersey down toward Delaware, Maryland the Carolinas and Georgia.
Before you come, you should decide what climate you'd prefer to live in while you are here. Sorry, but I have no knowledge of opportunities that may be available in the mid-western or south western states.
In the Winter, from New Jersey up to Maine and Vermont It continues to be colder and colder the further north you go. As you go south the
weather usually is much warmer, even during the winter months.I am thinking of moving to America from the UK for 6-12 months. Has anybody got any advice for me please?
don't listen to the canadian, he is prejudiced. there is no difference between americans and canadians, obviously.
depends on where you want to go. warm? cool? winter sports important? maybe you want to live in a ski/snowboarding town for the winter. when are you moving? what kind of culture are you looking to immerse yourself in, because america is very regional, each county is vastly different. i could go into it a bit if i knew these things about you.
email me if you would like a more detailed travelogue
You can visit the U.S.for up to 3 months under the visa waiver program, without a visa, but may not work. If you get a B-2 tourist visa, you can stay up to 6 months, but you may not work. The Only way you could possibly stay 6 months to a year would be if you could get a work visa...see 1st site...very difficult. See 2nd site to study other visa type requirements.
Edit: Just found out about something that may help you. another person on Y A gave a site for a place that gets people short term work opportunities in the U.S. You should check this out. I am presuming they take care of the visa issue. See last site below.
yeah don't!!!!
Go to Canada or to Australia or New Zealand I went travelling in the USA and was really not that impressed, the country is beautiful but the people were so stereotypical it wasn't even funny.
depends on how old you are.
get ready for lots of ignorance with regards to your origins and accent.
enjoy the awesome exchange rate.
come to canada, we're nicer.
